Can I Have a website with Videos? 1 Year ago
Chuk,
I have made many movies like the Trailer Park Boys on my video recorder. What I want to do is sell DVDs from my website. I am gtting great responses and this is something I am definitely going to do. Can you make a page where I can show video samples and a shopping cart to sell the movies. It could really take off.

You sure can. There are several ways to tackle this. As far as the webpage goes that we had discussed, I can set you up so that you have priviledges to control all the video content. On your end, you will just upload video or link the id from Youtube. You can place a video with a description in a matter of minute(s).

Since you are selling videos too, you can open your video file in an editor like Windows Movie Make or Pinnacle Studio. You can then keep only a Timeline that will be used for the sample video on Youtube or a video that will be converted to a Flash file. Then, output it as the file of choice; an avi file if it is from Movie Maker or Pinnacle Studio, or an avi or Flash(.swf) file if the conversion is from software like Camstudio or Adobe Captivate. Youtube will let you upload up to 100mb per file. You can set the file size in Windows Movie Maker so that you would be able to upload a larger quality file or small low quality file.

Another option is to take a video from one format, like .avi from Windows Movie Maker and use Flash to make a Flash file. Then, if you use the adequate software, you can just upload the video onto your website and it will be located into the adequate category that you choose.

The benefit of using a Flash file is that it can be stored in a folder and would look a little more professional than a Youtube link.

In a nutshell, what you will end up with are sample videos of any size that you want anybody or registered users to view on your own domain.

As far as the shopping cart goes, you can have your own shop and people can buy the DVDs online.
